"The Windmills of your Mind", I had not heard in many years yet 2 days later I awoke one morning with this song in my head, throughout the day it kept popping up in my mind, that evening I jammed "The windmills..." lyrics over my original instrumental composition & EUREKA :-) Yeah I think this was meant to be :-) I hope you Enjoy :-) " 14/03/2015 One Love :-) Dessy "The Windmills of Your Mind" is a song with music by French composer Michel Legrand and English lyrics written by Americans Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman. The French lyrics, under the title "Les moulins de mon cœur", were written by Eddy Marnay. The song (with the English lyrics) was used as the theme for the 1968 film, The Thomas Crown Affair. In the original 1968 film, the song was performed by Noel Harrison who took the song to #8 in the UK Singles Chart. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968. In 2004 that version finished at #57 in AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. A version by Sting was used in the1999 remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. [ The Windmills of your Mind Lyrics ] Round, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, Never ending or beginning on an ever-spinning reel, Like a snowball down a mountain or a carnival balloon, Like a carousel that's turning, running rings around the moon, Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face, And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space, Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind, Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own, Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone, Like a door that keeps revolving in a half-forgotten dream, Or the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream, Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face, And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind, Keys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head, Why did summer go so quickly? Was it something that you said? Lovers walk along a shore and leave their footprints in the sand, Is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand? Pictures hanging in a hallway or the fragment of a song, Half-remembered names and faces but to whom do they belong? When you knew that it was over you were suddenly aware, That the autumn leaves were turning to the colour of her hair, A circle in a spiral, a wheel within a wheel, Never ending or beginning, on an ever-spinning reel, As the images unwind, like the circles that you find, In the windmills of your mind.
